A representative group of members of the International Congregation of Agia Sophia, from many parts of the world, will visit Istanbul, Turkey, for the purpose of visiting the Holy Church of Agia Sophia to conduct Orthodox religious services. The group plans to meet in Alexandroupolis, Greece, on Thursday, September 16th, 2010 and travel by bus to Istanbul in the morning of September 17th. The group will return to Alexandroupolis on the same day, upon completing their planned visit. The International Congregation of Agia Sophia is an international religious non-governmental organization with its legal headquarters in the United States of America, with branches in Luxemburg and in Greece. The mission of the International Congregation of Agia Sophia is to restore the Great Church as a functioning church of the Orthodox Christian faith, and to re-establish Agia Sophia as the Holy House of Prayer for all Christians of the world and the Basilica (Seat) of Orthodoxy that it was before the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks in 1453 AD.
